Below is an official photo that Greg Tanner got from the archives at Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding (formerly known as Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Company).  This is from 1975 and "should be" from LMR's sea trials.

Gibraltar - Med Run '98
- submitted by Brian Daugherty

We were in Gib to offload the shelter.  I think was the same visit as when the crane broke and we ended up staying in Gib forever and a day.  Me and Greg Montgomery had been downtown doing what we normally do.  We decided to start heading back to the boat since it was getting late.  We had a pint of whiskey, but I don't think it was the good stuff, I can't remember for sure.  As we are walking back we came across a crowd of people.  It looked like a big block party or something, we had no idea what was really going on.  Of course Monty had his guitar with him and somehow or another we wound up striking up a conversation with some of the locals.  We ended up sitting there for what seemed like several hours, Monty strumming the guitar, and having a good old fashioned sing-along and passing the bottle (I think some of the locals ended up contributing some of their own bottles as well).  We must have sang "Me and Bobby McGee" a hundred times!  It was hilarious!  We had so much fun.  Well, eventually the liquor ran out, which of course means the party is over, so me and Greg headed on back to the boat.  The next day we went down to "Bourbon Street" (man! those were some great steaks!) and we saw the daily newspaper.  It turns out we were in the middle of a citizens protest in front of the Gibralter Governor's mansion!  Click here to see the newspaper story.
